Show the Fire

Read in May, 2014

Wow, This is  a hard review to write. The emotion that I experienced while reading this book was so profound it left me almost wordless.

There are many reasons this book should be a 4 star read, not  5 stars which I have given it. I'm going to break down into a few different parts without giving out any spoilers, why I gave it a 5 star rating.

Editing: Yes there were a few errors but nothing that impacted the  story

Characters: SF brought so many dimensions into Tasha's character that I'm afraid we lost the essence of the character and any passion for Len. This also kept me from relating to her, I felt there was more angst for Isaac than there was for Len which  pissed me off. because I felt Len deserved some angst So yes Tasha was likable in some ways, especially when wearing her Doctor hat..but as far as the relationship aspect of her character I found her to be TSTL .

I loved Len, I found he was extremely easy to relate to, he was comfortable in his own skin in a way only a more mature adult can be...He knew who he was and what he wanted, I like that he isn't afraid of change. I respected him before the "bad thing" then respected him even more after "the bad thing" For me Len made the story and is the heart of the book.

Relationships: I didn't really feel any connection between Tasha and Len other than friendship, for me there was no sizzle or spark. I thought Tasha was in a  relationship with the club more than she was with Len. The angst she experienced other than her past with Isaac was for the club. It was beautiful to experience Len's devotion to the club and to his Horde brothers. I love that he tried to connect to the young people around him and it made him more "human". Isaac's relationship to the club and to the history of the club was awesome to see. I could feel the passion he felt about the things that transpired . There were several other relationships; Shannon and Show, Cora and the "old ladies", Len and Nolan and Badger and Len, Badger and Havoc that were all beautiful and I felt them deep.

Storyline: For me this book is a vehicle for the plot. The romance that is usually the driving force in a contemporary romance really did take a backseat to the different aspects of moving the story along, The "bad thing", the town, the relationships within the club, the healing. I don't feel bad about this because any series over 3 books usually has one that might be weaker in the romance but stronger in the story. This was that book.

The Writer: Susan Fanetti you are incredibly brave, it is not often a writer will take the chances you did in this book. You are a incredibly talented writer and you have a fan  for life. Yes, you have a very realistic view of life and the violence and ugliness of the biker life is very apparent in your novels. There is no candy coating or hearts and flowers, only grit, dirt, horror and hurt. You brought the stories behind so many of our newspaper stories to life in your novels and yes it is hard to read. You devastated me with this novel, you made me angry, you hurt me, you brought my heart to my throat, you made me cry and you made me smile. Only a writer with true talent can cause a reader to experience this in ONE novel.

The Warning: The novel is not for the faint of heart. It is dark, it is violent, horrible and horrendous things happen but all of it is within the reality of the story. It is not gratuitous but it is also there in the full light of day. I still shudder at the "big bad" If you have issues with this things well I"m not sure why you are reading this series because all the novels in it have aspects of this darkness. This book doesn't dwell but it is all there in black and white.

The Rating: I pondered this overnight and most of today but I really have to give this novel a 5 star rating. Yes there were several things that knocked stars off but so many things that added stars that I just couldn't give it any less that the best rating I can. I also recommend this novel highly. This series is one of the best I have read for quality of writing, uniqueness and emotion. I can't wait to read book 7 and see who Susan Fanetti concludes our trip to Signal Bend.

The Dark Light of Day

Read on May 22, 2014

The blurb for this book starts with; "Warning: This is not your typical romance. The story of Abby & Jake contains disturbing situations, graphic violence, sex, rape, strong language, drug use, and all types of abuse." and yes these are all part of the book but the book is soooo much more.

This is a new to me author but holy cow I hope she writes MORE! This book got under my skin and into my head from the first line. It is ugly, gritty, nasty and really shows us how low humankind can sink. It is also about survival and strength of character and fills the reader with hope. Nothing other than an extremely well written book can bring all this out.

This story is so deep on so many different levels. The characters are dark and come from disturbing backgrounds which made them the people who they are...survivors. I connected with Jake right away and felt for him deep in my heart. Then when we met Abby my heart jumped to my throat. The characters were well rounded and so incredibly deep that my eyes would water every time they had another experience.

This story brought to the fore the depravity of mankind and in the end the HEA is almost anticlimactic but you just felt in your heart that the characters earned every minute of any happiness they can get. I don't want to get into quoting from the story or going into it too much. I read the book not knowing anything about it and I think this is the best way to experience it. T.M. Frazier I totally admire this work and hope you write more stories for us to experience, your talent needs to be shared.

5 star read and high recommendation! Beware of the dark aspects of the story if you can't handle too much RL in your romances

Jasinda Wilder is a new to me author but I just couldn't not read this book after I read the blurb and saw the cover..I mean the cover is HAWT!

I didn't read any other review prior to reading this novel and I rarely do..I tend to read them after just to see if my feeling were the same as the majority of the other readers. I'm pretty easy if the books have characters I connect with and a story that keeps in submerged I'm usually good.

I LOVED this book. The characters are outstanding, I totally fell in love with Roth, he is so totally hawt I can't stand it. Kyrie grew on me..I wasn't sure at first and I admit her dilly dallying at the end was kinda annoying but with the help of the ever funny Layla she got there. I connected with both MCs right away and with the story. I enjoyed the BDSM elements which was pretty much more of the domination/Control aspects and liked that JW didn't go here..and made it clear it wasn't really BDSM. Our Roth is just a major control freak. I found this understandable as we learned more about his past.

I enjoyed that this novel had a bit of a twist to the story which the premise has been done many times since Fifty Shades of Grey came out. This is not a copy of the story but would fit into the same subgenre as Fifty. For me this story was all about the connection between the two and how he wins her trust and how she wins his trust. It was wonderful.

There were two things that really stuck out for me in this book..One majorly positive and one a bit of a negative.

Negative first, continuity with ages. I don't know why this bugged me but it did. If Roth was 18 when he was suddenly on his own and Eliza has worked for him for 20 years as was stated twice in the book....how can he be 36 now? It just preyed on my mind...a little thing but....

Positive! Some of the best, hottest, sex scenes I have read in a LONG time. I admit I love erotic romance but I have become a bit bored with some of the sex scenes I have read lately. They at best been meh, or same ole same ole, at worst yada yada yada but this novel OMG! Jasinda Wilder writes SEX!! It had my toes curling and me shifting very uncomfortably in my chair. By the way Jasinda, my hubby says thank you! *grin* Wonderfully explicit, dirty without being crass, just wonderful!

The ending came way to soon but I wanted more..I want to see what happens next in Roth and Kyrie's lives because you just know it there will be some conflict and angst as she gets used to living his lifestyle. I also want to see how Layla does with Harris as I see sparks flying there..I do hope you will give us an Alpha II Jasinda!

JW also provides us with a lovely gift of an out-take from the story at the end of the book and it is steamy hot! Leaves you definitely wanting more.

Thanks for the great read. This was a 4.5 read for me and I recommend it to all those who love a wonderful erotic romance with a controlling alpha and a woman not afraid to take chances! I will definitely be looking for more Jasinda Wilder books and putting her on my watch list!

Available TODAY Tempting the Bodyguard

Hi All, I'm totally excited to be part of the launch celebration for Jennifer L Armentrout's (writing as J.Lynn) newest novel!

I've been waiting for this book to come so I can once again visit with those handsome Gamble Brothers.

How about a peak at what is in store for us in Tempting the Bodyguard A sexy category romance from Entangled’s Brazen imprint….

He can protect her from everyone except himself.

Alana Gore is in danger. A take-no-prisoners publicist, her way with people has made her more than a few enemies over the years, but a creepy stalker is an entirely different matter. She needs a bodyguard, and the only man she can ask is not only ridiculously hot, but reputed to have taste for women that goes beyond adventurous.

Chandler Gamble has one rule: don't protect anyone you want to screw. But with Alana, he's caught between his job and his increasingly hard libido. On one hand, Alana needs his help. On the other, Chandler wants nothing more than to take the hot volcano of a woman in hand. To make her writhe in pleasure, until she's at his complete mercy.

She needs protection. He needs satisfaction. And the moment the line is crossed, all hell will break loose...
