The Dark Light of Day
Read on May 22, 2014
The blurb for this book starts with; "Warning: This is not your typical romance. The story of Abby & Jake contains disturbing situations, graphic violence, sex, rape, strong language, drug use, and all types of abuse." and yes these are all part of the book but the book is soooo much more.
This is a new to me author but holy cow I hope she writes MORE! This book got under my skin and into my head from the first line. It is ugly, gritty, nasty and really shows us how low humankind can sink. It is also about survival and strength of character and fills the reader with hope. Nothing other than an extremely well written book can bring all this out.
This story is so deep on so many different levels. The characters are dark and come from disturbing backgrounds which made them the people who they are...survivors. I connected with Jake right away and felt for him deep in my heart. Then when we met Abby my heart jumped to my throat. The characters were well rounded and so incredibly deep that my eyes would water every time they had another experience.
This story brought to the fore the depravity of mankind and in the end the HEA is almost anticlimactic but you just felt in your heart that the characters earned every minute of any happiness they can get. I don't want to get into quoting from the story or going into it too much. I read the book not knowing anything about it and I think this is the best way to experience it. T.M. Frazier I totally admire this work and hope you write more stories for us to experience, your talent needs to be shared.
5 star read and high recommendation! Beware of the dark aspects of the story if you can't handle too much RL in your romances
