Dragon Moon

t'irla ~The BookSlayer~'s review
Read from December 29 to 30, 2012

Amazing introduction for new author Nulli Para Ora. Dragon Moon is everything a lover of romance could want in a unique PNR novel! A MUST read.

Description:

A business trip to China. A fight for their lives. Will Angelique and David become pawns in a werewolf war or does fate have something else in store?

David Johnson and Angelique Meadows are colleagues on a business trip to China. They’ve worked together for years, but neither has been able to admit their true feelings for the other. This business trip represents a landmark deal in their careers and an opportunity to reveal the truth of their hearts. Just as love blooms, disaster strikes.

The man they’re meeting with is Yuen Gao, CEO of a multi-million dollar company. The world sees him as a successful businessman. His pack sees him as their Alpha. Rogues, secret experiments, and the undeniable pull of his mate force him to reveal his secret. Is his love strong enough to overcome the pain of loss?

Hearts unite and break as trusted friends become enemies behind the scenes. Love longed for is lost to be replaced by a bond deeper than words. Loyalties are tested as ghosts of the past step into the present.

Can true love survive when forbidden hearts are reconnected?

My Thoughts:

Wow, talk about something different in PNR, I absolutely loved this novel. Nulli Para Ora breathes a breath of fresh air into romantic paranormal suspense. Although interracial couple are not unheard of in PNR it is highly unusual to have Asian/Black/White all in the same book as a love triangle. For me this was my first experience with a Chinese male protagonist and I hope that it is not my last Gao was unbelievably romantic, sensitive and all alpha. David was more aggressive even before the change and still a wonderful alpha. Angelique was everything you could want in a heroine, smart, focused, sensitive and kick-ass. The story NPO weaves was exciting enough to keep me up until 5:30 am this morning reading. I had to find out what happened. The book kept me on the edge of my seat..er.. bed, it was fast paced, and the plot deftly wound around the supporting characters to make them as integral to the story as the main characters. The fact that these characters are  fully dimensional  makes them easy for the reader to identify with and empathize. This complex story  introduced a plot twist right at the end, not a cliff hanger but an "uh oh now what" moment. Overall this is an exciting start to a new series and I for one can't wait for book 2. Ora is a new name in romantic paranormal and I know this novel will springboard her onto everyone's favorite shelf.  She is definitely on mine!

4.5 solid gold stars for Dragon Moon and a new fangirl in me. Do yourself a favor read this book now and treat yourself to a taste of Gao/David and Angelique.

On Dublin Street

Read from December 17 to 18, 2012

Refreshing Romance with a true to life Braden and Joss, a girl far away from home who needs to learn to trust before she can love. A must read for romance lovers!

Description:

Jocelyn Butler has been hiding from her past for years. But all her secrets are about to be laid bare…

Her solitary life is working well—until she moves into a new apartment on Dublin Street where she meets a man who shakes her carefully guarded world to its core.

Braden Carmichael is used to getting what he wants, and he’s determined to get Jocelyn into his bed. Knowing how skittish she is about entering a relationship, Braden proposes an arrangement that will satisfy their intense attraction without any strings attached.

But after an intrigued Jocelyn accepts, she realizes that Braden won’t be satisfied with just mind-blowing passion. The stubborn Scotsman is intent on truly knowing her… down to the very soul

My Thoughts:

I hate been hearing for months that I *had* to read this book and finally when Gotta Have Romance with a Kick group on Goodreads decided to make it book of the month I gave in and picked it up. I know people raved and raved but I am often going into reads with too high an expectation and been dissappointed. Not with this book. A warm, simple, romantic read for those of us who have gotten a bit disillusioned with the current romance trends. This book goes back to basics. Hunky hero with and accent *check* Heroine who is an orphan and can't trust anyone *check* roommate who makes the heroine start to feel and who happens to be the hero's sister *check* Angst *check* ...so if this book is so formula why is it so good?? Because the writing is flippin fantastic! The story flows well and is believable. The hero didn't really flash his money around, the heroine was kinda angsty but you expect that in a true romance. I enjoyed the secondary characters to..the mom and dad, the sister and best friend....I know there will be other exciting stories coming to us from Samantha Young and Dublin Street

Strong 4.5 Stars for this charming, romantic yet contemporary read. If you love romances you will love this book.

Favorite Covers of 2012?

January 2012

I love sexy book covers and to me sexy book covers usually have a man of some sort on them.  Ok, there might be the odd exception but generally there could be a naked man, half naked man or that the cover generated a "feeling" with me.  So I thought for the end of the year we would have a look at some of what I believe are the best covers.  I am going to go through each month and list my top 4 picks then Let you know my top 12 covers of 2012.  If you have a top 12 cover list I encourage you to let us all know in the comments!  Heck you might even get me to change my mind on the ones I have selected and update the post *grin*.  So here we go!

January's contributions gives us a sexy Highlander, a leather coated vampire, an angel with lovely tattoo'd wings and a beautiful t-shirted psychic FBI agent.  Winner here is ....you will have to wait til the end:)

February 2012

March 2012

April 2012

May had vastly different covers and was much harder to make my choice...the color's the titles the background images all came into play.  as well of course as the lovely male bodies.  I"m a sucker for a black t-shirt but a low slung pant makes me shiver it was difficult .

June 2012

July's selection was sizzling.

August 2012

The Cool breezes of September didn't do anything to put out the flames that these covers caused

October 2012

November 2012

December 2012

So these were my choices to narrow down to just one cover....Which cover do you find most appealing? Hawt! and makes you want to dab your face with cold water prior to picking it up to read???

Let me know and I"ll reveal "t'irla's talk Cover of 2012"
