Real

Read in May, 2013

AHHHH Remy!!! I have a new Book Boyfriend and so far my favorite CR of the year.

Description:

A fallen boxer.
A woman with a broken dream.
A competition…

He even makes me forget my name. One night was all it took, and I forgot everything and anything except the sexy fighter in the ring who sets my mind ablaze and my body on fire with wanting…

Remington Tate is the strongest, most confusing man I’ve ever met in my life.

He’s the star of the dangerous underground fighting circuit, and I’m drawn to him as I’ve never been drawn to anything in my life. I forget who I am, what I want, with just one look from him. When he’s near, I need to remind myself that I am strong–but he is stronger. And now it’s my job to keep his body working like a perfect machine, his taut muscles primed and ready to break the bones of his next opponents . . .

But the one he’s most threatening to, now, is me.

I want him. I want him without fear. Without reservations.

If only I knew for sure what it is that he wants from me?

Book #1 of The Real, Raw & Ripped Series

Mature New Adult/Adult Contemporary Romance - recommended for ages 18 and up.

My Thoughts:

My first thoughts when starting the book is that it reminded me of 'Beautiful Disaster' by Jamie McGuire..underground fighting, mental stability, over the top alpha and a lot of internal dialogue by the female protagonist. HOWEVER, as I kept reading I found that those were the only things that the books had in common. I got several more chapters in then all similarities were a thing of the past.

Katy Evans is a new author to me. This book was recommended by several GR friends but I still put off reading it for a while. I am not sure why..The title maybe. In the first 60% of the book was all about foreplay and getting to know each other. We saw most of this through the female POV with her internal thoughts I started feeling a disconnect with Remy. Then at 60$ we had a chance to see things through Remy's eyes and got a peak inside his head. We found out that KE addressed a very important mental health issue with ingenuity. I enjoyed how his friends and girlfriend accepted it. From this point the sex started and the love and closeness of the relationship grew. I feel in love with the story at this point and got completely absorbed in the characters and story.

As a true fan of Romance I have to admit that Remy had me wrapped around his finger from the first chapter. He is everything I love in a "hero" depth, vulnerability and a sense of self. This book has everything I look for in a story. Fully rounded characters, with depth of background that allowed us to get to know them. A story that moves carefully in the beginning laying ground work for the characters then at 60% it takes off like a rocket with all of the excitement, steam and suspense that I adore in my romances. Needless to say one of the best CR books I have read this year so far. I do have it sitting on my favorites shelf and look forward to doing a reread at some point in the future.

4.75 bears for this wonderful romance and a strong recommendation to all my fellow romance lovers. Do yourself a favour don't put it off like I did ...go buy it now!
